AMR Newsletter
June 2025
We’re pleased to provide an update on what is happening at the AMR. Read on to learn about recent highlights and for information on upcoming projects and events.
Journals
The AMR is now publishing six journals on the Diamond Open Access model, with no charges to authors or readers. We encourage you to submit your papers to these high-quality open-access journals:
Here’s more information on each journal: |

JAMR publishes research articles in all branches of mathematics at the level of the best specialized journals. JAMR released the first issue of its third volume at the end of January, and is preparing its next issue, to be released in a month or two. Two milestones for the journal are that it is now being reviewed by MathSciNet, and is now indexed by Scopus.

JEXPM publishes research articles in all branches of mathematics that feature experimental results with important implications. A published article may be accompanied by links to other media, such as repositories for code or data, notes or videos on background material, and videos of related lectures. The first issue was published in February 2025 and is available here.

The Journal of Open Mathematical Problems publishes surveys that are centered on notable problems in all areas of mathematics. The survey should indicate why the problem is particularly interesting and should contain the history and previous attempts on the problem. A published article may be accompanied by links to other media, such as repositories for code or data, notes or videos on background material, and videos of related lectures. The first issue is expected in summer 2025. Go here for more information about the journal, including information on how to submit articles.

The Arnold Mathematical Journal, previously published by Springer/Nature, is now published by AMR. The first issue of 2025 is now available. The journal is owned by the Institute of Mathematical Sciences at Stony Brook University and has been published since 2015. We plan to continue publishing four issues a year.

MDLI publishes research articles at the intersection of any branch of mathematics with data science, machine learning, or artificial intelligence. A published article may be accompanied, when appropriate, by other media,
The journal was launched in February 2025 and is now accepting submissions. Go here for more information about the journal, including information on how to submit articles.

Applied & Computational Geometry & Topology (ACGT) publishes high-quality research papers at the intersection of computational mathematics and geometric/topological methods, with a particular focus on algorithmic and applied aspects of algebraic geometry and algebraic topology. ACTG is still in the organizational phase and plans to start accepting submissions soon.
2025 Mathematical Congress of the Americas
The fourth quadrennial Mathematical Congress of the Americas (MCA) will take place in Miami from Monday July 21 to Friday July 25, 2025. These events are held under the auspices of the Mathematical Council of the Americas (MCofA) of which AMR is an affiliate member.
The MCofA organizes a Congress every four years, rotating through different countries. The goal of the Congress is to highlight the excellence of mathematical achievement in the Americas within the context of the international arena, and to foster the scientific integration of all mathematical communities in the Americas.
Previous MCAs were held in Mexico in 2013, in Canada in 2017, and in Argentina in 2021. MCA is the first Congress to be held in the USA.
Registration for MCA2025 is now open and we encourage AMR members to consider attending.
AMR-RMA lectures
The most recent lecture in this series was given by Amy Wienhard, Director of the Max Planck Institute, Leipzig, on May 6, 2025. She spoke on “A beautiful world beyond hyperbolic geometry: Anasov representations and higher Teichmüller geometry”. Here is more information and a video of her lecture. Click here for details and videos of past lectures and to sign up for AMR_RMA Lecture Series announcements.
Supporting online conferences
On-line mathematics conferences offer a great way to reach a worldwide audience in any branch of mathematics. The AMR is happy to help support such conferences by covering the cost for zoom licenses- this is often the one item that incurs an unavoidable cost. To apply for zoom license funding, please send the title and description of the conference, dates, list of organizers, expected number of speakers, the requested number of parallel sessions and the expected size of the audience to: online_conferences@amathr.org
AMR projects looking for volunteers
Are you looking for a chance to make a meaningful impact? Do you have design skills? The AMR has a few exciting projects in the planning stage that need enthusiastic members to bring them to life! If you have skills in graphic design, web layout, or visual branding, your expertise is greatly needed and appreciated. Here are some examples:
Website Refresh: Help us improve the user experience and update the look of our site.
Event Materials: Design flyers, posters, and social media graphics for our upcoming events.
Branding: Assist in creating a cohesive look for our digital and printed materials.
If you have experience or interest in any of these areas, we’d love you to get involved. Working on these projects is a great way to connect with other members, develop new skills, and make a real difference within our organization.
How to Get Involved: Contact Alex Kontorovich: alex.kontorovich@rutgers.edu. Let us know your areas of interest, and we’ll try to match you with a project that fits your skills and availability. Thank you for considering this opportunity to contribute to the support of mathematical research.
Support the AMR
All AMR activities are run by volunteers and membership is free. We have no paid staff, but we do have ongoing costs. Please consider donating to help expand our activities and to build an organization focused on mathematical research and scholarship.
One way to support the AMR is by becoming a Sustaining Member with a donation of $100 or more. Your contribution will help the AMR to continue to support mathematical research through its books, journals, reviews, lectures, prizes and other activities.
Best wishes for a restful and productive summer from the AMR Board. | |
